Houses
There were many different houses in the Feudal Japanese period whether you were rich or a poor peasant. For the more wealthy people you would of had a wooden structure with a special shaped roof so that all the snow and water would fall off. If you were an unfortunate peasant you would only have the choice of 2 different houses, the Pit Dwelling and the Elevated house. The Pit Dwelling house (left) is made out of straw, wood and mud and most of the house is underground which is not a very good shelter. Also there is the elevated house which is a big chicken cooped shaped house which is made of wood and has short stands to prop it up.

Inside Houses
Inside the more wealthier houses they sit on cushions on the floor to worship whereas in the less wealthy houses they sit on the floor with no cushions to worship. They also have no sofas and sit on cushions to watch tv and just generally sit down. Also the wealthier houses have paperthin walls so air can move about.
